Prof. Dr. Markus Balkenhol began his professional career in Dentistry in 1992 at the University of Münster (Germany). He received a postgraduate education in Prosthodontics and Dental Biomaterials.

He is Adjunct Professor and faculty member of the Medical Faculty, Clinic of Operative Dentistry in Homburg (Germany). In addition, he is Visiting Professor and Lecturer at the University of Witten-Herdecke (Germany) on Dental Biomaterials.

As Head of CRE, he is responsible for Clinical Research & Education as well as R&D at Heraeus Kulzer, Hanau (Germany).

He published more than 45 Original Research Papers, 33 Overview Articles and Case Reports and 67 Abstracts and gave over 100 international Lectures on various aspects of Dental Biomaterials.

His focus of scientific interest is Dental Biomaterials (Polymers, Elastomers, Adhesives) related to mechanical, chemical and physical properties. He acts as the reviewer for several international peer-reviewed journals.
