Dr. Blend Balisany is a specialist orthodontist and dental educator with a decade of full-time clinical practice and twelve years of university teaching experience. His clinical work centres on non-retentive orthodontics, a treatment philosophy in which occlusal stability is achieved through form and function rather than through indefinite retention, delivered within a fully digital diagnostic and planning workflow.

He is the Founder and Managing Director of SAF Dental Center in Erbil, a specialist clinic built around multidisciplinary, holistic treatment planning, where every patient is assessed jointly for stability, aesthetics and function. He also serves as Head of the Dentistry Department and BDS Programme Director at the University of Kurdistan Hewlêr.

As Scientific Advisor, speaker and clinical trainer to the Professional Clinical Orthodontics programme, now in its sixth cohort, he has previously delivered fourteen consecutive modules across 2023 to 2024, and has been an invited speaker in Germany, Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

His research interests span orthodontic biomechanics, occlusal development and the computational modelling of tooth movement.
