Abstract
With the proliferation of digital workflow into routine dental practice, there is an ever-increasing reliance on Computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD-CAM) dental restorations. With a mindboggling array of different materials and brand names, clinicians face the difficulty of material selection based on robust evidence to facilitate informed and valid patient consent – how long will it last? This presentation will cover current evidence on the performance of CAD-CAM restorations and the key factors influencing their longevity.
Lecture topics
- Choosing the right restoration and valid consent
- Evidence-based performance of different CAD-CAM restorative choices
- Patient and clinical factors influencing the performance of the restoration
Learning Objectives
- Review the different commercially available CAD-CAM materials
- Provide an evidence-based and unbiased assessment of the longevity of restorations
