Dr. Domenico Ricucci shares the latest in endodontic science at the Dubai Seminar

The Annual International Meeting by Dr. Domenico Ricucci took place on 28-29 November 2025 at The H Dubai Hotel, organised by Dentoki with local support from CAPP. The two-day programme gathered dental professionals for an intensive update on endodontic biology, vital pulp therapy (VPT), and modern clinical protocols.

Dr. Ricucci presented his latest research on pulpal and periapical tissue responses, focusing on this year’s key question: Can endodontic treatment be prevented in teeth with deep caries lesions? Topics included pulp response to varying caries depths, management of non-cavitated lesions, diagnostic criteria for pulpitis, selective versus non-selective caries excavation, and a critical review of indirect pulp therapy. Participants also explored direct pulp capping, partial and full pulpotomy, and a comparison of biomaterials such as Calcium hydroxide, MTA, and Ca-silicate cements.

The programme continued with a two-part series on endodontic infections, covering microbial colonisation, apical periodontitis, apical patency, working length determination, the limits of chemo-mechanical instrumentation, and approaches to treatment failures. Additional discussions addressed the restoration of endodontically treated teeth, instrument separation, crack-related failures, and decision-making in structurally compromised teeth.

A special highlight of Day 2 was the guest lecture by Dr. Olga Zemliakova on Safe and Predictable Broken Fragment Removal. She presented updated methods using ultrasonics, bypass techniques, management of fragments beyond the apex, complication prevention, and prognosis after broken fragment removal.
