Dr Ansi Shayar Mohammed Ali successfully obtains DOH - Abu Dhabi implantology privilege
Dr Ansi, it is a pleasure to feature an experienced dentist such as yourself on the Dental Tribune Middle East and Africa edition. First of all, tell us a little bit about yourself, what is your educational background and your work experience, especially related to the UAE?
Dr Ansi: It is my pleasure to get featured in this prestigious publication. I graduated from the Government Dental College in India in 2012. My passion even at that time was oral surgeries, therefore I trained in Implantology which allowed me to practice as a General Dentist and as an Implantologist in India until 2017.
In 2018 I moved to the UAE after clearing the Health Authority Abu Dhabi (HAAD) exam and started practicing in Al Ain, the garden city of UAE. I was still very passionate about Implantology which made me search for the right programme which fulfils the requirements to practise as an Implantologist under HAAD. Luckily, I found the CAPP programme - Clinical Implantology Dentistry Certificate and Diploma.
You have graduated from the Clinical Implantology Dentistry Certificate and Diploma programme awarded by CAPP-Tipton Dental Academy, British Academy of Dental Implantology (BADI) and the British Academy of Restorative Dentistry (BARD). Can you tell us what was your experience with the programme and what it exactly consisted of?
Dr Ansi: My experience with the programme was awesome. Everything I have learned would stay with me for a lifetime. The modules were well organised and structured. The tutors, especially Prof Göran Urde, were always ready to clear any doubts providing the best knowledge from their own experiences, both in the theory classes in Dubai as well as the live patient practical classes in Ajman.
During the live surgeries on patients in Ajman, I was able to bring my own patients and in the cases, I could not, CAPP would organise these for us. In fact, CAPP provided us with everything required for great clinical sessions with all various materials, equipment and instruments from highly reputable brands readily available.

After completing the Clinical Implantology Certificate and Diploma, you also applied and successfully obtained from the Department of Health (DOH) Abu Dhabi Implantology Privilege. Could you share with our readers more details on how you achieved the privilege? What is your advice to the dentists in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain who would like to obtain an Implantology Privilege?
Dr Ansi: Since the course itself was designed in such a way that allowed us to appear for the DOH-Abu Dhabi implantology privilege exam, it was very easy for me to complete the application process before sitting the exam. CAPP provided me with all the required documents.
The knowledge which I gained during the programme was the foundation for the preparation for the exam as well as past experience and other sources.
My advice to the dentists in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain who would like to obtain the implantology privilege will be to join the CAPP programme in order to fulfil the requirements to appear for the exam and to learn the current trends in Implantology through journals and other CME courses.
Currently, you are working in Al Rehaan Medical Centre, Al Ain. Tell us more about the clinic and the procedures which you perform?
Dr Ansi: Al Rehaan Medical Centre is located in the heart of the city of Al Ain. I am proud to say that this was my initial step towards becoming an entrepreneur in the UAE having the support from my family. It is a new venture and there were a lot of challenges that we had to go through, however, we rely on providing quality patient care and this is the key to our current and future success.
In my clinic, I do many different procedures within the scope of General Dentist focusing more on cosmetic, minor oral surgical procedures and of course implantology.

You have been working in UAE for a long time. What is your experience as a dentist in one of the most diverse and cosmopolitan countries in the world? How is life in UAE in general?
Dr Ansi: UAE is a country that welcomes all nationalities and respects their culture. The constant improvements and developments which the country goes through make me more motivated towards the purpose of life.
Life in UAE is safe and dynamic and in Al Ain is calm and peaceful. The desert rides and the shallow beaches add colours to life here.
Dr Ansi, what are your hobbies and what do you like doing in your private time?
Dr Ansi: Travelling, exploring new places and experiencing new cultures and vibes give me an adrenaline rush and this is definitely my greatest hobby. With the limited leisure time I have, I prefer to spend with my family. Reading, writing, listening to music, trying various cuisines, and learning more about Dentistry are also a few of the things that I enjoy. Finally, I am a philanthropist enjoying service to humanity as part of which I am volunteering in the “We Are All Police” initiative by the community police Abu Dhabi.
It was a real delight to have you with us on the Dental Tribune Middle East and Africa edition. Thank you very much for the informative and interesting interview.
