Immediate implants in fresh extraction sockets with root membrane

Date: 10 November 2022 | Time: 14:00-14:45 (GST) | Location: Online Event

Abstract

Nowadays, placement of immediate implants in fresh extraction sockets is a well-recognized and widely practiced treatment modality. What was once a strict protocol is getting more and more relaxed to accommodate cases that were labeled as contraindications. Partial loss of buccal plate of bone, lesions in the socket, as well as multi rooted teeth can be tackled without the need to defer the implant placement to a later stage.

Root membrane with its synonymous name, socket shield, is a fairly new modality in immediate implants treatment protocol. It implies the vertical sectioning of the root preserving the buccal part to preserve the periodontal artery. This will, often than not, will keep the blood supply to the buccal plate of bone resulting in better

Preservation of the buccal hard and soft tissue; A crucial prerequisite for proper aesthetics in the anterior region.

This presentation focus is on the treatment protocol through a recorded live surgery. Statistics that indicate the success rate of such treatment modality from both the presenters own experience and published literature will be presented as well.

Learning objectives

Upon completing this presentation, the audience will be able to:

  • Discuss the clinical situations as to when this protocol can be employed
  • Identify the steps needed to execute the treatment.
