Today’s “dental world” is spinning around implants, the teeth are preserved, the bridges are not any more a treatment of choice and the edentulous patients require fixed rehabilitations. In such environment the GBR became a standard procedure in our dental offices. The principles of Guided Bone Regeneration are well known since many years and there are many discussions and research in this field. Why, when and how to use specific surgical technique and material in order to obtain clinically successful and predictable results became a crucial question for many clinicians. Therefore, major indications for GBR such as post extraction sites, reconstruction of deficient alveolar ridges with allograft cortical plates, the use of allograft blocks and different combinations of materials and methods will be discussed with step by step clinical cases and examples.
