Biological Indirect Restorations: Conserve to preserve

With the development of dental adhesives and adhesive luting agents, together with the development of stronger all porcelain restorations, there has been a shift in clinical dentistry to a more conservative treatment model. Traditional indirect restoratives required aggressive preparation designs that lead to the sacrifice of healthy tooth structure to establish adequate retention. Dr van Lierop will explore the modern preparation principals of “Bio-Substitutive Dentistry”. Using simplified adhesive techniques to limit the amount of healthy tooth structure loss during indirect posterior restoration design. Identifying techniques for preparation and cementation that allows every clinician to incorporate biologically conservative processes into their daily practice.

Participants should understand:

  • Why go conservative?
  • What is the ideal preparation?
  • The Bio-Substitutive model
  • Simplified cementation techniques
